Curriculum

The curriculum offered at Margo's Early Learning Center is based on the needs of young children to explore the world around them.  We truly feel that much more can be gained when a preschooler engages in hands-on activities versus spending much of the day in a typical structured environment sitting behind a desk.  We believe a child should use all their senses to learn to engage and maneuver in the world.  They need to build their critical thinking skills and socialization,  so as to be ready for formal school when that time arrives.

We strive to offer a multi-faceted curriculum, including arts, math, sciences and daily reading and music to enrich the children.  We have a theme-based curriculum, that changes as the children's interests change.  Although we do incorporate all the necessary skills for kindergarten readiness, we try to engage the children in fun learning activities instead of forced formal classroom work.

We also do not send homework home with our children. Their job as toddlers and preschoolers is to learn how to assimilate into the world around them.  Time for formal homework will be here soon enough, and if each child is here regularly, they will be ready for school when that time arrives.

Menu

We offer a full weekly menu, serving breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack daily.  Some of our favorite menu items offered are home-made pot roast, chili, pork roast soft tacos and salmon patties with Quinoa.  We also offer all the typical favorites such as pizza, macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets however, all of these things are also home-made here in our kitchen.  This enables us to chop up and add extra veggies into our favorite foods such as our pizza and turkey burgers.  As a rule, we do not serve store bought items such as fish sticks, chicken nuggets or other fast food type choices.

Fresh produce is offered at every meal.  We provide fruits and vegetables to the children based on our seasonal choices, varying the choices as often as possible.  We also serve whole grain/wheat products, and replace things like 'ranch style dip' with hummus or almond butter.

We feel that serving a healthy well-balanced diet to each child can be a huge factor is the success of your child's experience here and will have a huge impact on their future health, and their success as they move on to formal schooling.
